Murder
is Murder. Assassination is assassination in all countries throughout the world
but in India we have diversity in everything, similarly we have different
flavors’ of Murders. If someone is killed in India than whole media look
towards its caste, creed, culture, religion, language and state. So, in India
it is not a murder, it is Dalit murder, Muslim Murder, North East students
Murder, Writers (only self acclaimed Intellectuals’) Assassination (it’s not
murder its assassination, something fancy), Christian Murder and off course
female murder which is further classified into her age group and Murder with
Rape than further Classification of rapes that is it brutal or non brutal, age
of girl is less than 10 or more than 15, girl is married or not, she belongs to
metro city or village.
So,
in this manner, our media categorized different type of crimes in India. They
don’t generally care about the killing or Rape of a person, they don’t even
care about that particular person but they care about the Caste, Religion,
Gender, Language or State etc of a victim. So that they can present that case
in such a manner in which the community which belongs to that caste or religion
or gender involves in the case and news channels get their “TRP”. They try to
hype every single incident in such a way that, it is the most heinous crime
ever happened in India. The game behind this is again “TRP”. They always want
some “Breaking News” but it is impossible to get the “Breaking news” every day,
so they started creating the “Breaking News” by themselves. Now, someone would
say-“What’s wrong in that?” If they
create “Breaking News” on Nature or movies or entertainment than –“Yes, there
is no problem”, but when they start creating “Breaking News” on Political
issues –“There is a big problem”.
If a crime is reported as a crime than there
is no problem everyone demands for a justice and no one try to save any
criminal. Now, the problem starts when they dubbed any ordinary crime to crime
done by a sect. For ex- Dalit is killed that means that indirectly they are
saying that upper caste is responsible than whole upper caste people comes in a
defensive mode and whole Dalit community comes in offensive mode. Similarly,
when they say an innocent Muslim is killed by a Hindu (I don’t know why but
they always reveal the name of a killer , if it is Hindu and they never do vice
versa) than again, Indirectly the message that goes to all Hindus is they are
blaming on Hindu community and hatred towards Muslims increases and in Muslims
hatred against Hindus increases. Similarly when they say north-east student is
killed in North India by any North Indian, it increases hatred in these two
communities. Yes, it increases the TRP of a channel and it gives them enormous
amount of revenue but-“What about the nation?” What about those communities?
The tension between the two communities increases gradually and one day it
causes riots between two communities and instead of taking responsibility of
riots, media again uses these riots as a tool of TRP and put all blame of
Politicians and Politics. Do our media have any responsibility towards nation
or not? They ask questions from everyone, they put blames on everyone but they
are not accountable to anyone. Is it the right approach of media towards
society? Why they forget that –“They are also part of the same society of
India. Their children are also living in the same society, they also watches
the same News channels and if riot happen it affects them too” but I think in
this era of capitalism, only money and greed is everything, nobody cares about
ethics and morality.
One
more thing I want to discuss in this article is Hippocracy of Indian media
houses and intellectuals. They only shows selective killings and selective
murders which suited there politics and they never showed that incidence which
doesn’t suited there politics. It also increases hatred in Indian society like
several Hindus have reported in last few days that media is always showing news
against Hindus. I try to find out whether it is true or not than I found some
selective news channels are doing it and not only news channels some English
speaking intellectuals are also supporting them (I don’t know for what reason).
When I asked to one common Hindu boy he said- “ They only showed killings of Muslims
and Christians by Hindus but when Hindus were killed in Kerela, Bengal, Kashmir
they never showed this”, when I search about this news I also find it true that
these if any of minority got killed that news will become Breaking News but if
Hindus are killed in similar type of incident than only a small line would
come. I did not find any suitable reason for this selective nature of media
houses but it is also one of the biggest reason of tensions between the two
communities.
One
more Hippocracy of media and Intellectuals is that, when it comes to Terrorism
they say “Terrorism has no religion” or “Terrorist has no religion” but when it
comes to Killing or assassination they reveal its religion and caste and
started blaming him as Hindu fanatic or Upper caste or patriarchal man etc.
This is quite selective nature of media and equally Hippocratic. If Terrorist
doesn’t have any religion than how could a Criminal has any religion or a
murderer has any caste?
These
are certain things which are increasing tensions amongst Indian communities and
Media is also responsible for it for their selective nature of reporting. I
want to say one thing to media that - You are one of the pillars of
constitution and you should respect the constitution which says-“Treat everyone
equally”. A killer is a killer, a murderer is a murderer and a Terrorist is a
terrorist. Don’t increase tension between the communities to increase your TRP.
A
murder is a murder, it is not a Muslim Murder, Dalit Murder, Female murder,
Tribal murder etc. If you do this kind of reporting, “I am worried that one day
our politicians will make different laws for different killings, whichever
community has maximum number of votes its murderer will get maximum punishment
and the community which is weaker, they could be killed by anyone.”
I
hope media houses will understand this and stop classifying different types of
Murders.
